The Knights of Columbus Car Show on June 6th will now feature a Silent Auction. The Auction includes a new Momentum LaFree E+ electric bike with a retail value of $2,500. The bike was donated by Bicycles East of Glastonbury and a fellow member of the Knights. The Silent Auction for this event will be a fun new way for folks to win their favorite item. The auction will include over $5,000 retail dollars of prizes. Officially, it is the 9th KofC Car Show with over 100 cool cars and trucks, but it is also the chance to mingle and enjoy friends and neighbors. The show opens at 3:00 in the St. Mary Church parking lot and ends with awards at 7:00. Lots of tasty food, snacks and beverages will be available and served by the Knights. To make attendance available for all, handicapped parking assistance will be provided in front of the Church on Freestone Avenue. The proceeds of this event are used to nance local charitable endeavors including three college scholarships to high school seniors from Portland.

Our Bereavement Support Group meets on the 2nd Monday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Parish Hall. A day-time meeting has also been added: every 4th Tuesday at 2:00pm in the parish library. If you are in the process of grieving for a loved one recently or in the past, please consider joining us! Freestone Council 7 Knights of Columbus, at St. Mary Church is sponsoring an “Adult Used Coat Collection”. the Portland Food Bank has requested the local Knights to once again sponsor a town-wide Coat Drive this Fall appealing for “gently used coats for adults”. David Shovlin, Food Bank Chairman for the Council, has said Council 7 will “once again request winter coats, hats, gloves & scarves for adults. ” To donate a much-needed Adult Used Coat, a large receptacle is available in the Rosary Room. Shovlin also announced that the Council has purchased 4 dozen new children’s winter jackets for the Food Bank funded from the proceeds of the ongoing Annual Raffle the council is soliciting donations for.
The Ladies Guild will be collecting items for the Veteran's Hospital- particularly needed are K-cup pods, Walmart gift cards, and laundry detergent pods. A container will be set up in the Rosary Room.

Co-sponsored with Adath Israel in Middletown, this annual golf tournament will be August 6th at the Portland Golf Course. This year beneficiaries are: the Rushford Center's, The Bridge program in Willimantic, and Middlesex Health Beit Paley Center for Mental Health. All are encouraged to help sponsor the tournament.
