Guidelines for Use of St. Mary Parish Hall
The Parish Hall is available only by reservation with the Parish Office at (860) 342-2328.
The Parish Hall will be available primarily for parish functions and parishioners, upon request, for showers, anniversaries, christenings, funerals, etc.
Bachelor parties are not allowed.
For-profit organizations will not be allowed to use the Parish Hall.
Rental of the Parish Hall will not be allowed to any organization affiliated with a political party or used to advance the agenda of a political party.
Requests by non-profit organizations in Portland will be considered for civic functions.
A deposit fee of $150 will be charged for all non-parish events. The fee will be reimbursed provided the Parish Hall is left clean, orderly, and in good condition.
Anyone using the Parish Hall will be responsible for set-up, clean-up, and any damages incurred. Clean-up includes vacuuming the carpeting in the Parish Hall and sweeping the kitchen floor. All garbage and recyclable materials will be bagged or bundled and deposited in the church dumpsters located behind the Rectory.
Requests will be considered as long as they do not interfere with normal parish functions, i.e., Saturday and Sunday Mass, Religious Education, First Communion, Confirmation, weddings, funerals, coffee hours, etc.
No liquor will be sold in the Parish Hall, including at church functions. As a general policy, alcohol is not allowed at functions in the Parish Hall.
Except for official church functions, all other groups will be required to sign a contract, which is signed at the time the event is booked. An application for special events must also be filed with the Diocese of Norwich along with their fee for liability insurance coverage.
Information on location and use of Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) will be given to anyone using/renting the church hall.
